UPS Backed Power Upgrades

South East Contractors Ltd carried out a series of UPS-backed power upgrades across a live commercial site, delivering new resilient electrical supplies to support critical equipment.

Project Summary

South East Contractors Ltd carried out a series of UPS-backed power upgrades across a live commercial site, delivering new resilient electrical supplies to support critical equipment. The works involved installing multiple 125 A SWA sub mains feeding new 24-way Schneider Isobar P distribution boards positioned throughout the building.

To minimise disruption, all shutdowns and changeover works were undertaken out of hours, ensuring the client’s day-to-day operations remained unaffected while improving the reliability and capacity of the electrical infrastructure.

Scope of Works

• Installation of multiple 125 A SWA sub mains

• Installation and commissioning of 24-way Schneider Isobar P distribution boards

• Isolation of existing MCCB panels and termination of new SWA supplies

• Circuit transfers from existing distribution boards to new UPS-backed boards

• Full testing, labelling, and integration into the existing UPS-supported system

Key Challenges & Solutions

Live Operational Environment

• Works carried out within an occupied commercial building

• All shutdowns and changeovers completed out of hours to avoid disruption

Critical Power Changeovers

• Detailed pre-planning and sequencing of isolations and circuit transfers

• Clear communication to ensure smooth transitions and minimal downtime

System Integration

• New boards carefully integrated into existing UPS-backed infrastructure

• Comprehensive testing and labelling to ensure clarity and long-term reliability

Project Outcome

The UPS-backed power upgrades were delivered successfully with minimal disruption to the client’s operations. The new distribution arrangement provides improved capacity, cleaner power distribution, and enhanced resilience for critical systems, ensuring the site is better equipped to support ongoing and future operational demands.
